Once the frozen delights are out of the way it will be time to pivot to bakeries where you can buy cakes, cookies, pastries, and all kinds of sweet treats. Then we will get into some specific things like donut shops, where to buy cupcakes, candy stores, and chocolate and fudge shops too.
Healthy dessert options in Barcelona like gluten free bakeries and smoothie shops are easy to find as well. And our final topic will be all about restaurants that are known for must have desserts in your area.
Stick around for our local dessert map that has all these spots that we are mentioning throughout the post pinned on it. Our other posts on finding the best sweet shops in Spain are available at that link if you want to check them out.

Bakeries In Your Area
Expect to find great cakes, cookies, pastries, and more at the best bakeries near you:
- Origo at Carrer de Milà i Fontanals, 9
- Cloudstreet at Carrer del Rosselló, 112
- ByKate at Carrer de Còrsega, 379
- Forn Mistral at Carrer de Torres i Amat, 7
- Baluard Barceloneta at Carrer del Baluard, 38
- El Arbol at Carrer d’Aribau, 36
- Forn Rovira at Carrer de Sants, 282
We want to briefly mention for any tourists that most bakeries here will have pastry, donut, and croissant based desserts. If you are looking for things like cakes and cookies they can be harder to come by and quality will vary.
Cakes in particular will also be very expensive, we recently had to remove a place because they were selling ‘mini cakes’ that were about 1/3rd the size of a legit cake for the mere price of 45 euros. Our suggestion is to indulge in what the locals do well and enjoy your cookies and cakes when you get somewhere that they are easier to find.
With that said we tested out many places and ByKate had by far the best combination of flavor and value making them our top place to buy cakes in Barcelona. They aren’t a bakery, more of a brunch spot, but you can get a large tasty slice of cake for a reasonable price so they definitely deserve their listing.
Freshly baked breads, pastries, and cakes are available at Forn Mistral.
Baluard Barceloneta sells delectable baguettes, breads, panettones, and more.
Anyone that wants to sample a variety of cheesecakes should head to El Arbol.
To be honest we aren’t sure if the Forn Rovira on Sants is better than any of their other locations, all we can tell you is that there was almost always a line out the door when we walked by at this particular spot which wasn’t the case at the others. Maybe the people who live in town know something that we don’t.
Local Donut Shops
These donut shops are a great way to start your morning:
- Boldú Balmes at Carrer de Balmes, 149
- Bungnuts at Carrer de Santa Eugènia, 16
- Areca at Carrer del Torrent de l’Olla, 90
Where To Buy Cupcakes
There are some really good cupcake shops in your area:
- Pink Cakes at Carrer del Dos de Maig, 259
Pink Cakes creates custom cupcakes, cookies, and sweet confections in Barcelona.
Be sure to read our note just under the bakeries list, cupcakes and cakes are not easy to come by and if you show up at the first places search engines suggest they may be tourist traps selling them for way too much money so be sure to check out the prices and the sizes before you buy anything.
There is one place in particular that we used to list here but we removed it after seeing the size of their ‘mini cakes’ that they sell for 45 euros a piece meaning you would be paying over 100 euros for a normal size cake.
Candy Stores Near You
Local candy stores should have a wide variety of sugary treats to choose from:
- Papabubble at Carrer dels Banys Nous, 3
- Çukor at Carrer del Palau, 5
- Happy Pills at Carrer dels Arcs, 6
Personalized and customized local candies and lollipops are available at Papabubble.
Çukor offers more than 100 varieties of candies, chocolates, and sweets.
Happy Pills is a good place to go for a fun and creative experience selecting your own sweet treats.

- Petritxol Xocoa at Carrer de Petritxol, 11
